A Dandies Approach to Festival Fashion!

A Dandies Approach to Festival Fashion!

Getting festival ready... We are now officially in the thick of the Festival Season! Oh the festival, the emblem of summer, synonymous with denim shorts, spent in vain without Hunter wellies and not a summer at all if you're not attending at least one! Well, truth be told in my twenty nine years of living I must have lived only a handful of summers, because I am far from what the likes of Glastonbury and V-Fest goers would call a 'Festival Goer'. In fact, I'm not. I just happen to wander along to the odd festival the occasional summer, and I am delighted to say that this is one of those summers. Indeed, on Friday I will be attending Wireless Festival at the Olympic Village park and as you would imagine, the ensemble preparation has begun. My stylish thoughts have led me to the conclusion that festival fashion can be easily imitated; firstly it's functional, so common sense and practicality, before aesthetic,...

The Gold Studded Leather Jacket

Inspired by: The gold studded leather jacket in Zara, Katie Nehra and studs and spikes! Studded Leather Zara Jacket by ayeshadandizette  For some time now I have been debating whether to purchase Zara’s black leather jacket...the one embellished with gold studs...I am expecting everyone coveting the studded leather jacket trend to know this exact high street version, inspired by LA based designer Katie Nehra’s Simone label. In recent months the Simone leather jackets has become many a celebrity's go to jacket. You barely see Nicole Ritchie in the press without her extreme lapelled studded jacket...in fact she has two, one black one white.  If someone offered to buy me one of these $1080 leather Simone jackets I most certainly would not say no, however, that’s not happening and I happened to have fallen head over heels in love with Zara’s high street rendition. Of course, it has to be the gold studs that are really doing it for me, that and the affordable price...

Vagina Boots – The ‘V’ Word in Boot Camp

All hail this season’s supreme and essential boot for the winter rain or feline predator, coined the V boot by fashion bloggers, the V indeed refers to the woman’s genitalia. Could the vagina be any more à la mode? Propped on the top of perforated, studded, patterned, matt faux or real leather, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli and Gucci models strutted down the runway with their legs wrapped in black, oil slick leather climbing way up their legs. Over the knee boots are so last season, winter 2009 the new boot is Vagina high and proud. With our second Christmas in the recession, 7.8% of the work force unemployed and no prediction of employment increasing anytime soon, the nation’s strength and confidence is vulnerable. Designers kick the recession in the teeth with these strategically powerful boots, although the Gucci V boot is priced at £1560 these boots will definitely pay for themselves - over and over again. Last year the high streets saw...

Recessionista Chic

It was the usual Friday evening at the South West London home of the green fingered photographer and ex London College of fashionstudent, Canterbury Parker. Protocol of gatherings at the Parker home are drinks, tortilla chips and humus dips, gossip, fashion pondering, wine sipping and drunken calorie burning dancing.Myself and vintage shopper and charity shop aficionado Kimmie Parker and her mother, Canterbury were sat in the garden, Kimmie and myself flicking through high fashion magazines and building mental wish lists, when I came to the conclusion that, 'I need a new image.' Looking down at my jeans and a vest top outfit I couldn’t help feeling slightly upset and annoyed by the fact that it had taken me almost two hours to select this ensemble - (surely an outfit worth two hours of trying on and taking off should be more...creative?) 'A new image? That costs money,' Kimmie Parker says, sucking on her Vogue cigarette. 'It doesn't have to. You can just style...

Accessory Necessities

With shops like Primark, Accessorize, ASOS, Claires Accessories, Topshop, Miss Selfridges DIVA range and Hennes you can get accessoried up to your eyeballs with scarves, hats, clutches, belts, hairbands, broches and jewellery. You can even pick up some vintage look a likes! For some serious vintage jewellery at some unfortunately serious prices i will always recommend Portobello market, however if you can't make it up to Portobello physically or financially, then Miss Selfridge is great for vintage homage. So, if you're doing Recessionista Chique for fashion purposes, for savings and sensible spending or just love accessories, here are my ten top tips before i Bling and GO! 1 - Bags For shoppers, totes and general day bags it's always easy to become attached to one particular bag - do try and mix it up a little and don't be afraid to add some colour to your bag collection. If like me, you refuse to be adventurous with designer bags (all my designer bags are...
